Sony gets Ghostbusters Exclusive in PAL Territory

Sony has cut a deal with Atari that will see that the PS3 and PS2 versions of Ghostbusters get a bit of a time exclusive in places like Europe and Australasia. The game will be released by Sony instead of Atari on June 19 in PAL territories to coincide with Ghostbuster Blu-Ray release. The news so far does not effect North America release.

Amazon’s Slimer Edition

Slimer Edition

Amazon’s got another exclusive, this time it’s the Ghostbusters: The Video Game Slimer Edition. It cost 129.99 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 version and 109.99 for the Wii version.

Here’s what you get:

  • An exclusive 10″ Slimer bust designed and created by the original movie sculptor, Steve Johnson. Comes complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by the sculptor himself.
  • Exclusive Ghostbusters Minimates. Only be available with the Slimer Edition.
  • Exclusive Ghostbusters Gamer Graffix Console Skins.
  • Exclusive Ecto 1 Key Chain with lights and sound.

No Ghostbusters for PSP

A spokes person from Atari has confirmed that Ghostbusters: The Video Game will not be coming to the PSP.

Currently a PSP version is not a part of the release plan for Ghostbusters: The Video Game

The game is set to be released for the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and the DS, Wii, and the PC.

Ghosbusters for iPhone

Ghostbusters is heading to the iPhone, Sony Pictures just announced that Ghostbusters: The Video Game will be joining the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 in June. Will be interesting to see how the developers use iPhone’s accelerometer to it’s advantage.

Alyssa Milano lends voice for Ghostbusters

Variety reports that Alyssa Milano voice will in the upcoming Ghostbusters video game. Her character voice will be Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn. It’s really nice to get big stars involved in this project but I could really care less if Sigouney Weaver or Alyssa Milano lends their voice, who the hell knows what Sigourney’s voice sounds like anyways.

Ghostbusters Multiplayer details

Atari spilled some information on what multi-player will be like on the Ghostbusters.

Two Co-op modes:

  • Instant Action – start busting ghosts instantly.
  • Campaign Mode – play in four player mode in different environments like the streets, cemetery, library, and museum.

Play as any of the four original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore. You can also play as the single player character known as the “Rookie”.

Ghostbusters game engine up for licensing

Terminal Reality, the company behind the upcoming Ghostbusters: The Video Game engine will be meeting with developers behind closed doors at the DICE Conference which is held in Red Rock, Nevada.

The game engine is called “Infernal Engine” and it’s compatible with all next-gen consoles, and will be able to take full advantage of the next-gen hardware.

Ghostbusters to be released some time next year

According to Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbusters the video game which Atari took over will be released in about a year. That’s from an interview he did on a local radio station. The game was supposed to be released this fall and now we have to wait another year for this game to be released, such a sad day.
